Upcoming Workshop at Yoga Journey, Collingwood:Extend it Before You Bend it Exploring BackbendsWorkshop: Sunday February 10th 1:00 4:00 PM | Price $55 + HSTWhether you are relatively new to backbends or looking to deepen your understanding of them, this workshop is for you. It's focused on creating a richer understanding and appreciation for these poses that are often regarded as the most challenging of asanas. We are much more connected to our frontal bodies than our back bodies. Effort must be applied to create a relationship and understanding of the intricate and unique movements of our spine.In this workshop, you will learn how to cultivate deep, full backwards extensions to reap the benefits of these satisfying, exhilarating, and liberating asanas without experiencing the discomfort or restricted movement that often accompany them. Classical asanas will be deconstructed so that you will develop or deepen your understanding of how to locate and recruit the internal support necessary to perform these poses with intelligence and integrity. You will learn how to penetrate those areas that are stiff and motionless and contain those areas which are hypermobile and overactive. Using props, alignment techniques and biomechanics we will also explore how to effectively prepare and recover from these asanas.Pre-registration required, register online or email lori@yogajourney.ca

My first visit to Fredericton and it was amazing. What a warm warm and welcoming city. Combine this with a wonderful Iyengar Yoga community with a studio located above a natural foods store and an excellent restaurant with outstanding vegan options @11thmile.yfc and a visit to the #Lordbeaverbrookartgallery that has a mind blowing Salvador Dali painting (it was so incredible I had to lie down to take it all in). I will definitely be back!
