About Us
Coffee
The Ashanti Coffee that you buy is grown by Amy
and David Wilding-Davies on eastern facing slopes in the Chipinge
region of Zimbabwe in beautifully rich red soils.
Amy and David
have made the effort to ensure that 50% of the Ashanti estate is
maintained in its natural state for conservation of the indigenous
forest.
The coffee cultivars were chosen for the quality of
beans, the ‘cup’ they produce, and last but not least for their vigor.
The coffee cherries are selectively picked for optimal ripeness by
experienced pickers.
"What's special about our coffee is that
we grow it on our own farm,
import it ourselves and roast it fresh right here in Thornbury
-
we have control from farm to finished product, and it results
in a brilliant cup of coffee"
About Us
Amy and David set up a roastery in Thornbury, Ontario Canada to roast and sell Ashanti Coffee to the public. To ensure freshness, Ashanti roasts several times a day in custom batches for retailers, restaurants, and individual coffee lovers.
We like to share that experience with our friends - Ashanti is one of the few unique place in North America where you can buy premium coffee at the peak of freshness, and shake hands with both the roaster and the grower the same day your coffee is roasted.
Zimbabwe
Bordered by Zambia, Botswana, Mozambique and South Africa, Zimbabwe is a land locked country located in Southern Africa. It has a lovely temperate climate with average temperatures around 30c in summer and 18c in winter. Zimbabwe is home to some of Africa’s largest wildlife reserves, Victoria Falls (which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World) and Lake Kariba, the world’s largest man-made lake.
The Ashanti coffee estate is located in the Eastern Highlands. The great taste of our coffee comes from the care we take in growing it and the fresh-roasting it for you.
