Hey Everyone,
Now that the cooler weather is here and the leaves are gradually falling, when deciding on doing the yard clean up, think about the hard working pollinators, bees, bugs and things.
These little creatures hibernate in your tubular plant stems.
So, if you absolutely need to clear your flower beds before the white stuff stays, please leave at least 6 to 8 inches of the planted stem, for them to sleep and come to back to life next spring.
Also, if you insist of ridding your yard of leaves, find someone with a mulching lawnmower. This will save time on raking the large piles, and keeps the nutrients (tiny dust pieces) in the ground, then the bigger mulched pieces can be placed in a compost bin or less bags for the town/city to pick up.
